Urgent Action: Stop Congress from ending abortion coverage!

The U.S. House of Representatives plans to vote this week on a bill that could end insurance coverage for abortion services, even though most plans provide it now.

This is yet another insidious, ideological attack on women’s health. We can’t let these anti-choice extremists get away with it.

Urge Congress to vote NO on H.R. 7, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act.”

Last week, at a meeting of the Republican National Committee, Mike Huckabee said that advocates for women and families, like the National Partnership, are trying to dupe women into believing they “are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government.”

That was outrageous, and we fought back.

Now Congressman Chris Smith (R-N.J.) and his fellow extremists are adding insult to injury by trying to advance H.R. 7, radical legislation that threatens women’s access to medical care, raises taxes on women and small businesses, could end coverage for abortion care in insurance plans, and would permanently deny access to insurance coverage for abortion care in federally supported health insurance plans that cover low-income women, among others.
