Ask Governor Brown to Stand with California Women and Families
We’re so close to expanding abortion access for women in
California! AB 154, the Early Abortion Access bill, is headed to Governor
Brown’s desk. Let him know that you stand with California women and families by
asking him to continue his leadership on reproductive health by signing AB 154
into law.
Even in California access to comprehensive reproductive
healthcare is a problem:
- A single mom from the Lake Tahoe area wasn’t
able get access to local abortion care, so she had to travel to the Bay Area.
She didn’t have a car so she had to take a five-hour train ride to San
Francisco the day before her appointment. She had no place to stay that night
or money for a hotel room. She ultimately had to sleep on a bathroom floor.
This is not an isolated incident, rather one of many stories told by strong,
resilient California women who are experiencing barriers to care. - In urban areas, women may have to wait weeks for
appointments.
We’ve seen attacks on abortion access and clinics being
forced to close their doors nationwide. This is the only bill in the country that
will expand access to abortion.
1 in 3 women will decide to end a pregnancy in her
lifetime.
Being
able to see a licensed health care provider in one’s own community for early
abortion can mitigate unnecessary travel and expenses. And every person
deserves to be treated by a healthcare professional they know and trust.
Stand
with California women and families today and urge Governor Brown to Governor to
make California the first state to expand abortion access in years. Help us
keep make sure California remains a leader in comprehensive reproductive health
care services.
